We are Aaron & Kelsey Kunz. Born and raised right here in Tennessee, we come from a long line of folks who believe in hard work, strong faith, and the kind of family that shows up for dinner and stays ‘til the porch lights come on. Our journey, like most, has been marked by growth, grace, and plenty of lessons learned the long way—but all of it has shaped the passions that fuel us today.

For nearly a decade, we served in full-time vocational ministry, walking alongside families through the highs and lows of life. But toward the end of 2020—a year that made a lot of people re-evaluate their path—we knew it was time to follow the dream that had been on our hearts for years: to build something lasting with our hands and our lives.

That dream became Highland Proper.

Based in Knoxville, TN, we pour our hearts into creating spaces that feel like home—because to us, the home is more than just walls and a roof. It’s where Sunday morning pancakes happen, where babies take their first steps, where stories are told, and where life is shared. We care about the little things—the texture of a wood beam, the way light falls through old-style windows, the feeling you get when you walk through the front door. Every detail matters because every moment at home matters.
